The Cross-Correspondences
In the early 20th century, a series of automatic writings known as the Cross-Correspondences were produced by different mediums, purportedly conveying messages from deceased members of the Society for Psychical Research.
These writings contained fragmented information that, when combined, formed coherent messages, suggesting coordination beyond the mediums’ conscious control.
Proponents argued this provided evidence of survival after death, while critics contended that the complexity and ambiguity of the messages allowed for subjective interpretation, and the possibility of coincidence or subconscious collaboration could not be ruled out.
