On January 17, 2014, Sunanda Pushkar, the wife of Indian politician and diplomat Shashi Tharoor, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a luxury hotel suite in New Delhi. In 2018, Shashi Tharoor was formally charged with abetment to suicide and cruelty. He called the charges “preposterous” and politically motivated. In 2021, he was acquitted due to a lack of sufficient evidence. But even after multiple forensic investigations and court hearings, no conclusive cause of death has been established.
