Dan Rivera, a 54-year-old paranormal investigator and U.S. Army veteran, passed away unexpectedly on July 13, 2025, in a Gettysburg, Pennsylvania hotel room. Rivera was the senior lead investigator for the New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR), the organization founded by Ed and Lorraine Warren. Known for his strong social media presence — including viral TikToks — and involvement in notable media projects like Netflix’s 28 Days Haunted and the Travel Channel’s Most Haunted Places, Rivera had built a significant reputation within the paranormal community. This tour, featuring Annabelle, was one of the largest he had led in recent years.
On the evening of July 13, emergency services were summoned to the hotel after Rivera was found unresponsive. Despite immediate CPR efforts, he could not be revived. The Pennsylvania State Police later confirmed there were no signs of foul play. His cause of death remains undetermined pending autopsy results.
NESPR and the tour organizers both released statements expressing deep sorrow. NESPR commended his unwavering passion: “Dan truly believed in sharing his experiences and educating people on the paranormal. His kindness and passion touched everyone who knew him.” The tour’s organizers echoed similar sentiments and affirmed their intention to continue the ongoing tour in Rivera’s memory.
