Bhangarh Fort – Rajasthan
Often called the most haunted place in India, Bhangarh Fort in Alwar district, Rajasthan, has a sinister reputation. Built in the 17th century by Raja Madho Singh, it was once a thriving town.
Today, it lies abandoned, and no one is allowed to stay within the fort premises after sunset due to reported paranormal activity.
The legend goes that a tantric (black magician) named Singhia fell in love with the beautiful Princess Ratnavati of Bhangarh. Knowing he had no chance, he used dark magic to make her fall in love with him.
However, the princess sensed the trick and foiled his plan, causing his death. But before dying, the tantric cursed the town of Bhangarh, leading to its doom.
Tourists and locals claim to have experienced strange noises, whispers, shadows moving in the darkness, and feelings of being watched.
Some report seeing ghostly apparitions, while others claim their electronic devices malfunction inside the fort. Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has even placed a board outside warning people not to enter after dusk.
Despite multiple ghost-hunting investigations, no solid proof of supernatural activity has ever been found. Still, the fort continues to draw paranormal enthusiasts from around the world who are fascinated by its cursed legacy.
