Kuldhara Village – Rajasthan
Just 20 km from Jaisalmer lies the abandoned village of Kuldhara, which has stood untouched for over 200 years. The legend goes that one night in the early 1800s, the entire village—home to the prosperous Paliwal Brahmins—vanished without a trace.
According to lore, Salim Singh, a powerful minister, fell in love with the village chief’s daughter and threatened to forcefully marry her. Rather than give in, the villagers decided to abandon the village overnight. Before leaving, they allegedly cursed Kuldhara so that no one could ever settle there again.
Since then, Kuldhara has remained deserted. Locals and visitors claim to hear strange noises—footsteps in the sand, whispering voices, and sometimes see shadowy figures in the ruins. Some report a feeling of unease and unexplained cold spots, especially near the temple at the village center.
Several paranormal investigators have explored Kuldhara. One group claimed their equipment picked up anomalous readings and voices saying “leave now.” Others have caught mysterious orbs in photographs. Despite these claims, there’s no scientific explanation for why the village remains uninhabited to this day. The mix of history, silence, and eerie vibes makes Kuldhara a powerful paranormal mystery.
