Cipriano receives Catholicism
Days after this interview with the bishop, Cipriano, after having properly instructed us in the principles of the doctrine of Christ, we will receive baptism with all the solemnity possible, before the astonished eyes of many people, for his fame has run through all the cities and all its inhabitants knew that makes his face diabolical.
From then on he lived in chastity and gave an example of all such virtues as a perfect Christian. After he was ordained priest, with the death of the bishop, he succeeded him in the episcopal chair.
Justina, for her part, entered a convent of her pious sisters, where she reached an abbey, giving her kindness and serendipity, her existence of chastity and her renunciations. A large number of young people were attracted by his example, that life of recollection and penitence.
During his episcopate, Cipriano distinguished himself in the mission of showing and supporting Christians imprisoned or condemned to martyrdom.
Cipriano’s imprisonment and martyrdom
It did not take long for Cipriano to be imprisoned by order of the emperor Diocletian who was found in Nicomedia as it became known that Cipriano was converting many people to Christianity and this fact greatly aggravated the collection of taxes and infractions of local politics.
Like most of these cases, he was taken before the tribunal, where the proconsul ordered him to worship and burn incense to the idols to prove his fealty and fidelity to the gods of the Roman Empire. Like all true Christians, Cipriano withdrew.
Justina was also on the same occasion, brought before the tribunal and her behavior was typical of the demands of worshiping the pagans.
